Oil rigs increased by +3 to 1,545 (ht: +4; vt-dir: -1) while gas-directed rigs increased by +1 to 311 (ht: -2; vt-dir: +3). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +5 to 196 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and by +3 to 211 in the Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -2 to 22 in Marcellus ( SWPA ).

The number of oil rigs increased by +6 at 1,542 (ht: +6; vt-dir: 0) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -10 to 310 (ht: -8; vt-dir: -2). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +2 to 191 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and the vertical/directional oil rigs increased by +5 to 13 in the Anadarko (OK). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +3 to 22 in Marcellus ( NEPA ).

Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -5 to 189 in the Eagle Ford (TX) but increased by +4 to 64 in the Permian (NM). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +2 to 19 in Barnett (TX).
