Baker Hughes shows 1,756 active rigs as of November 22, 2013, higher by +1 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +2 to 1,387 (ht: +13; vt-dir: -11) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -1 to 369 (ht: +1; vt-dir: -2). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +7 to 185 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and by +4 to 40 in the Anadarko (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +4 to 24 in the Marcellus (WV) but fell by -2 to 13 in the Eagle Ford.

Oil rigs increased by +2 to 1,385 (ht: -2; vt-dir: +4) and gas-directed rigs increased by +5 to 370 (ht: +2; vt-dir: +3). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -6 to 53 in areas of Texas not currently identified with an established resource play and increased by +4 to 148 in the Bakken (ND).

Oil rigs increased by +7 to 1,383 (ht: +9; vt-dir: -2) and gas-directed rigs increased by +5 to 365 (ht: +1; vt-dir: +4). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +9 to 143 in the Permian (TX) and by +5 to 177 Eagle Ford (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs fell by -2 to 15 in the Eagle Ford (TX) but increased by +1 to 19 and 16 in the Marcellus ( SWPA ) and Ohio, respectively.
