Baker Hughes shows 1,123 active rigs as of March 13, 2015, lower by -67 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -56 to 866 (ht: -38; vt-dir: -18) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -11 to 257 (ht: -8; vt-dir: -3). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -13 to 169 and vertical/directional oil rigs decreased by -7 to 68 in the Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -3 to 17 in Haynesville (TX).

EIA reported a -198 bcf withdrawal for the week ending March 5 (Bloomberg median -191 bcf, Bloomberg whisper: -195 bcf). The 25 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from -206 bcf to -171 bcf with a standard deviation of 8 bcf. Our model showed -204 bcf. Nationwide natural gas-weighted heating degree days reported by NOAA decreased by -21 to 238 HDDs, while electricity-weighted cooling degree days increased by +1 to 3 CDD . Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended March 03. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in heating oil, Brent and gasoline , but decreased in natural gas and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas declined by -23.3k to -17.1k in futures and fell by -21.2k to +31.3k in fu.....

Oil rigs decreased by -64 to 922 (ht: -39; vt-dir: -25) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -12 to 268 (ht: -12). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -6 to 119 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and vertical/directional oil rigs decreased by -7 to 75 in the Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -2 to 25 in Marcellus ( SWPA ).

Oil rigs decreased by -33 to 986 (ht: -29; vt-dir: -4) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -9 to 280 (ht: -4; vt-dir: -5). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -6 to 125 in the Eagle Ford (TX) whereas vertical/directional oil rigs increased by +3 to 82 in the Permian (TX).
