In Focus: Ethane exports The announcement today from Enterprise that it intends to move forward with an ethane export terminal isn’t too much of a surprise – the partnership has been touting the fundamental length in the product for some time, and has indicated it would pursue such a project given sufficient commercial interest. The question remains, however, whether Enterprise has received firm commitments from international petrochemical producers. To make this a really credible investment.....

Distillate inventories increased by +597k bbl and gasoline inventories declined by -274k bbl. Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended April 15. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in natural gas, Brent, gasoline and WTI , but decreased in heating oil during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas grew by +5.3k to +404.4k in futures and increased by +13.0k to +519.6k in fut.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,826 active rigs as of April 17, 2014, lower by -1 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -7 to 1,510 (ht: -2; vt-dir: -5) while gas-directed rigs increased by +6 to 316 (ht: +2; vt-dir: +4). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -10 to 103 in Anadarko (OK) and vertical/directional oil rigs increased by +3 to 205 in Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +3 to 27 in Marcellus ( SWPA ).

In Focus: Market Insight (and expanded charts) In addition to record liquefied petroleum gas ( LPG ) exports, if recently-announced condensate splitters go ahead as planned, the US will also have excess light naphtha to export. Both of these products compete as feedstock for petrochemical production. But because of propane’s greater seasonality and its use for on-purpose propylene (propane dehydrogenation or PDH ), increased paraffinic naphtha availability shouldn’t necessarily be viewed as.....

Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -2 to 19 in Haynesville (LA).
