EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | May 13, 2016

The EIA reported a +56 bcf injection for the week ending May 5, coming in below our own number at +60 bcf and in line with the Bloomberg median at +57 bcf. Regionally the South Central reported a larger build than expected the expense of Midwest and others. There will be no commentary this week. Please note our extended U.S. and Canada tables covering the injection season are included in the attachment.

Please find attached data and charts detailing U. S. gas imports and power demand for the week ended May 5, 2016. Total net imports for the reference week averaged 2.02 bcf/d, higher by +0.69 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged 2.00 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 24.3 bcf/d, higher by +0.8 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 18 population-weighted CDDs, lower by -1 from the previous.....

Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended May 03. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in heating oil , but decreased in Brent, gasoline, natural gas, gasoil and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas decreased by -17.7k to +64.3k in futures and fell by -11.4k to .....

Baker Hughes shows 414 active rigs as of May 6, 2016, lower by -5 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -4 to 328 (ht: -6; vt-dir: +2), while gas-directed rigs decreased by -1 to 86 (ht: unch; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -3 in Eagle Ford (TX), while increasing by +3 in Permian (TX). Horizontal gas rigs increased by +1 in Haynesville (TX).

The EIA reported a +68 bcf injection for the week ending April 28, coming in just below our own number at +70 bcf and in line with the Bloomberg median at +67 bcf. Regionally the Midwest reported a smaller build than expected, but salt dome facilities injected another 10 bcf to get to within 20 bcf of their high from last November. However, the scrape sample for the week ending May 5 is calling for a low single digits salt dome injection as of today. With regional weather moving towards normal.....

Oil rigs decreased by -11 to 332 (ht: -8; vt-dir: -3), while gas-directed rigs decreased by -1 to 87 (ht: unch; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -3 in Eagle Ford (TX) and by -2 in Anadarko (OK). Horizontal gas rigs decreased by -2 in Marcellus (WV), but increased by +1 in Eagle Ford (TX).
