Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended August 27, 2013. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in WTI , gasoline, heating oil and natural gas during the reference week. Non-commercials’ net length in WTI grew by +9.1k to 457.6.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,768 active rigs as of August 30, 2013, lower by -1 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +6 to 1,388 (ht: +10; vt-dir: -4) while gas-directed rigs fell by -7 to 380 (ht: -8; vt-dir: +1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +3 in both the Anadarko (TX) and the Eagle Ford (TX) to 41 and 161, respectively. EIA reported a +67 bcf injection for the week ending August 23 (Bloomberg median +62 bcf, Bloomberg Whisper +61). The 27 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +54 bcf to +70 bcf with a standard deviation of 4 bcf. Our model showed +61 bcf. Nationwide HDDs were down by -2 and dropped to 3, while nationwide cooling degree days reported by NOAA increased by +1 to 62 CDDs. Baker Hughes shows 1,769 active rigs as of August 23, 2013, lower by -16 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -15 to 1,382 (ht: unch.; vt-dir: -15) and gas-directed rigs decreased by -1 to 387 (ht: -2; vt-dir: +1). Oil rigs increased by +12 to 1,397 (ht: +12; vt-dir: unch) while gas-directed rigs were up by +2 to 388 (ht: unch; vt-dir: +2).
