Baker Hughes shows 405 active rigs as of May 13, 2016, lower by -9 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -10 to 318 (ht: -5; vt-dir: -5), while gas-directed rigs increased by +1 to 87 (ht: +2; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -3 in Permian (TX) and by -2 in Anadarko (OK). A horizontal gas rig has returned to Colorado after six months of no activity in the state, but there were no changes in any of the majors plays that we track.

Oil rigs decreased by -4 to 328 (ht: -6; vt-dir: +2), while gas-directed rigs decreased by -1 to 86 (ht: unch; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -3 in Eagle Ford (TX), while increasing by +3 in Permian (TX). Horizontal gas rigs increased by +1 in Haynesville (TX).

Oil rigs decreased by -11 to 332 (ht: -8; vt-dir: -3), while gas-directed rigs decreased by -1 to 87 (ht: unch; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -3 in Eagle Ford (TX) and by -2 in Anadarko (OK). Horizontal gas rigs decreased by -2 in Marcellus (WV), but increased by +1 in Eagle Ford (TX).

Oil rigs decreased by -8 to 343 (ht: -2; vt-dir: -6), while gas-directed rigs decreased by -1 to 88 (ht: -1; vt-dir: unch). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -4 in Permian (TX) and by -3 in Eagle Ford (TX), but increased by +4 in areas of Texas not associated with any major play. On the gas side, Barnett (TX) lost its last rig, but there were no changes in other plays.

Oil rigs decreased by -3 to 351 (ht: -6; vt-dir: +3) while gas-directed rigs were unchanged at 89 (ht: unch; vt-dir: unch). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +2 in Permian (NM) and by +1 in Anadarko (TX), but decreased by -4 in areas of Texas not associated with any major play. On the gas side, two new rigs moved into Woodford (Arkoma) restarting drilling activity in the region after the last rig went idl.....

Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -3 in Permian (TX) and by -2 in Bakken (ND), but increased by +2 in Anadarko (OK). On the gas side, horizontal gas rigs decreased by -1 to 2 in Haynesville (TX), but increased by +1 to 4 in Eagle Ford (TX).
