U.S. crude oil inventories fell by -2976k bbl in the week ended September 30, while Cushing stocks increased by +569k bbl. Distillate inventories declined by -2359k bbl and gasoline inventories increased by +222k bbl. Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended September 27. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in gasoline, natural gas, heating oil and WTI , but decreased in Brent and gasoil during the reference week. Baker Hughes shows 521 active rigs as of September 30, 2016, higher by +11 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +7 to 425 (ht: +2; vt-dir: +5), while gas-directed rigs increased by +4 to 96 (ht: +3; vt-dir: +1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +1 in Bakken (ND) and by +1 in Permian (NM). Horizontal gas rigs increased by +1 in Marcellus ( SWPA ), by +1 in Marcellus (WV), by +1 in Woodford (Arkoma) and by +1 in Fayetteville (AR), while decreasing by -1 in Eagle Ford (TX).

Horizontal oil rigs increased by +1 in the Permian (TX) and by +1 in the Bakken (ND), and by +3 in areas of TX not associated with a tight oil play. Horizontal gas rigs increased by +1 in the Marcellus ( SWPA ), and by +2 in areas of TX outside of named shale plays.
