U.S. crude oil inventories fell by -1428k bbl in the week ended August 16, while Cushing stocks decreased by -1090k bbl. Distillate inventories rose by +871k bbl and gasoline inventories fell by -4029k bbl. Commitment of Traders Report - August 16, 2013
Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended August 13, 2013. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Non-commercials decreased net length in WTI , gasoline, heating oil and natural gas during the reference week. Non-commercials’ net length in WTI fell by -9.4k to 449.1.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,785 active rigs as of August 16, 2013, higher by +14 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +12 to 1,397 (ht: +12; vt-dir: unch) while gas-directed rigs were up by +2 to 388 (ht: unch; vt-dir: +2). Horizontal oil rigs in areas currently not associated with an established play jumped by +10, led by a +7 rig increase in OK. Number of horizontal oil rigs also increased by +3 in Permian (TX), but fell down by -3 and -2 in Anadarko (OK) and Permian (NM), respectively. As f.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,771 active rigs as of August 9, 2013, lower by -5 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -3 to 1,385 (ht: -12; vt-dir: +9) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -2 to 386 (ht: +4; vt-dir: -6). Horizontal oil rigs fell by -7 to 149 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and by -6 to 90 in the Anadarko (OK). Vertical/directional oil rigs increased by +6 to 241 in Permian (TX) and by +4 in Eagle Ford (TX).
