EXPANDED: Commitments of Traders Report - September 2, 2013
Please find attached our expanded weekly Commitments of Traders ( COT ) report, which contains additional trader positions, tables, charts and analysis. We have decided to expand our CFTC report to include the disaggregated data published by the CFTC . The Disaggregated COT report separates the commercial category into Producer/Merchant/Processor/User ( PMPU ) and swap dealers (Figure 1). Additionally, the non-commercial category is separated into managed money and other reportables. Full.....

Commitment of Traders Report - August 30, 2013
Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended August 27, 2013. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in WTI , gasoline, heating oil and natural gas during the reference week. Non-commercials’ net length in WTI grew by +9.1k to 457.6.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,768 active rigs as of August 30, 2013, lower by -1 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +6 to 1,388 (ht: +10; vt-dir: -4) while gas-directed rigs fell by -7 to 380 (ht: -8; vt-dir: +1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +3 in both the Anadarko (TX) and the Eagle Ford (TX) to 41 and 161, respectively. Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -9 to 6 in the Granite Wash (TX) after a jump of +6 last week. At the same time, oil-directed rigs in the Granite Wash (TX) foo.....

U.S. crude oil inventories grew by +2986k bbl in the week ended August 23, while Cushing stocks decreased by -837k bbl. Distillate inventories declined by -316k bbl and gasoline inventories decreased by -587k bbl. Baker Hughes shows 1,769 active rigs as of August 23, 2013, lower by -16 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -15 to 1,382 (ht: unch.; vt-dir: -15) and gas-directed rigs decreased by -1 to 387 (ht: -2; vt-dir: +1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +9 to 158 in Eagle Ford (TX), by +4 to 116 in Permian (TX), and by +5 to 92 in Anadarko (OK), while dropping by -10 to 190 in areas currently not associated with a specific play.
