Baker Hughes shows 1,835 active rigs as of October 5, 2012, down -10 from a week ago. Oil rigs decreased by -12 (ht: -16, vt-dir: +4) and total gas rigs increased by +2 (ht: +7., vt-dir: -5). Horizontal oil rigs went down by -6 in Eagle Ford (TX) and -3 in Bakken (ND). Vertical/directional oil rigs went down by -3 in Anadarko (OK). Horizontal gas rigs increased by +4 in Eagle Ford (TX). STATS shows 1,769 active rigs as of October 5, 2012, down -37 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs decreased by -28 (ht: -9, vt-dir: -19.) and total gas rigs decreased by -9 (ht: -8, vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +9 in Eagle Ford (TX). Horizontal oil rig count decreased by -5 in Permian (TX) and in “Other” region each. Horizontal oil rig count in Eagle Ford (TX) is at 209, the highest in history and is the same as the historical high in Bakken (ND). Permian (TX) lost -16 Vertical/D.....

U.S. crude oil inventories declined by -482k bbl in the week ended September 28, while Cushing stocks rose by +135k bbl. Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended September 25. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil.
