Baker Hughes shows 1,976 active rigs as of April 5, 2012, unchanged from a week ago. Oil rigs went up by +11 (ht: -2, vt-dir: +13) and total gas rigs went down by -11 (ht: -13, vt-dir: +2). Horizontal oil rigs went down by -3 in Anadarko (OK), followed by -2 in Bakken (ND), while going up by +2 in Anadarko (TX). Vertical/Directional oil rigs went up by +3 in Anadarko (OK) and +3 in Permian (TX). Horizontal gas rigs went down by -4 in Barnett (TX) and Marcellus (WV) and by -2 in Eagle Ford (TX.....

STATS shows 1,901 active rigs as of March 23, 2012, up +3 rigs from a week ago. Total oil rigs were unchanged week on week (ht: +1, vt-dir: -1) and total gas rigs went up by +3 (ht: +6, vt-dir: -3). Horizontal oil rigs went up by +5 in Bakken (ND), while falling by -7 in Eagle Ford (TX). Permian (NM) gained another +5 vt-dir oil rigs. Horizontal gas rigs went up by +4 in Eagle Ford (TX), likely due to reclassification. In Granite Wash (TX) horizontal gas rigs went up by +4 and in Granite Was.....
