Baker Hughes shows 837 active rigs as of April 7, 2017, higher by +15 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +10 to 672 (ht: +6; vt-dir: +4), and gas-directed rigs increased by +5 to 165 (ht: +4; vt-dir: +1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +8 in Permian (TX) and by +3 in Permian (NM), while decreasing by -3 in Anadarko (OK), by -1 in Anadarko (TX) and by -1 in Eagle Ford (TX). Announced OPEC and Non- OPEC production cuts went into effect on January 1, 2017. Production cuts may not immediately result in lower loading volumes, but market participants are closely monitoring 1H 2017 loadings. OPEC and Non- OPEC participants covered in our report are Angola, Iraq, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Equatorial Guinea.
