Baker Hughes shows 1,760 active rigs as of June 7, 2013, lower by -4 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -4 to 1,406 (ht: -2; vt-dir: -2) while gas-directed rigs were unchanged at 354 (ht: +1; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs fell by -5 in the Anadarko (OK) to 102, but increased by +2 to 160 in the Bakken (ND). Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -5 to 23 in the Eagle Ford (TX) but increased by +4 to 20 and 7 in both Texas and Ohio, respectively, in areas not yet identified with .....

U.S. crude oil inventories fell by -6267k bbl in the week ended May 31, while Cushing stocks declined by -484k bbl. Distillate inventories increased by +2611k bbl and gasoline inventories fell by -366k bbl. Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended May 28, 2013. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Baker Hughes shows 1,764 active rigs as of May 31, 2013, higher by +8 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +8 to 1,410 (ht: +10; vt-dir: -2) while gas-directed rigs were unchanged at 354 (ht: -8; vt-dir: +8). Horizontal oil rigs fell by -3 in the Eagle Ford (TX) to 176, but increased by +4 to 158 in the Bakken (ND). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +2 to 18 in the Haynesville (TX) but decreased by -3 to 18 in the Marcellus ( NEPA ).

Oil rigs decreased by -6 to 1,402 (ht: -6; vt-dir: unchanged) while gas-directed rigs were unchanged at 354 (ht: -3; vt-dir: +3). Horizontal oil rigs fell by -9 in the Eagle Ford (TX) to 179 and by -4 in the Anadarko (OK) to 106, but increased by +4 to 110 in the Permian (TX), which is a continuation of last weeks’ trend. Gas-directed rigs were little changed.
