Baker Hughes shows 1,762 active rigs as of May 17, 2013, unchanged from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -4 to 1,408 (ht: -5; vt-dir: +1) and gas-directed rigs increased by +4 to 354 (ht: +2; vt-dir: +2). Horizontal oil rigs fell by -3 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and Anadarko (OK) to 188 and 110, respectively, but increased by +3 to 106 in the Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +5 to 30 in the Eagle Ford (TX).
