Baker Hughes shows 1,757 active rigs as of May 3, 2013, higher by +10 for the week. Oil rigs increased by +22 to 1,403 (ht: +11; vt-dir: +11) and gas-directed rigs decreased by -12 to 354 (ht: -3; vt-dir: -9). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +9 to 109 in the Anadarko (OK), by +3 to 47 in the Permian (NM) and decreased by -4 to 56 in Texas (Other). Vertical/directional oil rigs increased by +6 to 63 in parts of Texas not currently identified with established shale oil plays, according to Baker .....

U.S. crude oil inventories rose by +6696k bbl in the week ended April 26, while Cushing stocks fell by -1382k bbl. Distillate inventories increased by +474k bbl and gasoline inventories declined by -1818k bbl. Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended April 23, 2013. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Oil rigs increased by +10 to 1,381 (ht: -1; vt-dir: +11) and gas-directed rigs decreased by -13 to 366 (ht: -12; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +2 to 189 in the Eagle Ford (TX), by +2 to 100 in the Anadarko (OK) and by +2 to 60 in Texas (Other). Vertical/directional oil rigs increased by +4 to 251 in Permian (TX) and by +5 to 57 in parts of Texas not currently identified with established shale oil.....

STATS shows 1,661 active rigs as of April 19, 2013, lower by -14 for the week. Rigs drilling for oil decreased by -10 to 1,327 (ht: +1; vt-dir: -11) and gas rigs fell by -4 to 334 (ht: -5; vt-dir: +1). STATS showed that horizontal oil rigs jumped by +6 in the Eagle Ford (TX) to 197. Horizontal gas rigs declined by -2 to 34 in the Marcellus ( NEPA ) putting aggregate Marcellus rigs at 80 for the week, STATS shows.
