Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended March 26, 2013. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in WTI , natural gas and RBOB this week. Non-commercials net length in WTI grew by +24.2k to 360.9k in futures and by +24.6k to 4.....

Baker Hughes reported its rig count on Thursday this week and newswires originally posted the following headline: “Gas rigs down by 29 week-on-week.” That headline is misleading and the large drop reflects a re-classification of horizontal rigs in Eagle Ford. According to Baker Hughes, horizontal gas rigs in Eagle Ford dropped by 27, while horizontal oil rigs in the formation increased by the exact same amount. U.S. crude oil inventories grew by +3256k bbl in the week ended March 22, while Cushing stocks built by +439k bbl. Distillate inventories decreased by -4513k bbl and gasoline inventories declined by -1596k bbl. STATS shows 1,649 active rigs as of March 22, 2013, higher by +10 for the week. Rigs drilling for oil increased by +10 to 1,289 (ht: +13; vt-dir: -3) and gas rigs were unchanged at 360 (ht: +5; vt-dir: -5). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +8 to 185 in the Bakken (ND) and by +5 to 184 in the Eagle Ford (TX). STATS shows 1,639 active rigs as of March 15, 2013, higher by +4 for the week. Rigs drilling for oil decreased by -2 to 1,279 (ht: +8; vt-dir: -10) and gas rigs increased by +6 to 360 (ht: +2; vt-dir: +4). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +9 to 179 in the Eagle Ford (TX), while horizontal gas rigs drilling in the Marcellus ( SWPA ) increased by +3 to 24.
