STATS shows 1,672 active rigs as of December 28, 2012, down -36 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -40 to 1,280 (ht: -22, vt-dir: -18) and total gas rigs increased by +4 to 392 (ht: +3, vt-dir: +1). Twelve oil rigs pulled out of the Oklahoma portion of the Anadarko basin (ht: -9, vt-dir: -3) and horizontal rigs operating in the Eagle Ford fell by -6. STATS shows 1,708 active rigs as of December 21, 2012, up +3 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +3 to 1,320 (ht: +13, vt-dir: -10) and total gas rigs were unchanged, although rig types shifted (ht: +6, vt-dir: -6). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +6 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and by +4 in the Permian (TX). STATS shows +2 horizontal gas rigs were added in the Northeast and +3 rigs in the Southwest portions of the Marcellus (PA). Baker Hughes shows 1,769 active rigs as of December 21,.....
