STATS shows 1,633 active rigs as of March 1, 2013, lower by -13 for the week. Rigs drilling for oil decreased by -6 to 1,277 (ht: -12; vt-dir: +6) and gas rigs declined by -7 to 356 (ht: -7; vt-dir: unchanged). Horizontal oil rigs fell by -13 to 172 in Eagle Ford (TX), while vertical/direction rigs in the same play increased by +9 to 37. Meanwhile, horizontal gas rigs drilling in the Marcellus ( SWPA ) fell by -4 to 20. Baker Hughes shows 1,753 active rigs as of March 1, 2013, lower by -4 fro.....

U.S. crude oil inventories rose by +1130k bbl in the week ended February 22, while Cushing stocks fell by -75k bbl. Distillate inventories grew by +557k bbl and gasoline inventories decreased by -1857k bbl. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Non-commercials decreased net length for the first time since December 11, when the price of WTI was $85.79. Yet net length still remains at its highest level since Februar.....

Horizontal oil rigs increased by +4 to 183 in the Bakken (ND) but fell by -2 to 185 in Eagle Ford (TX). Horizontal gas rigs drilling in both the Eagle Ford (TX) and Marcellus (WV) fell by -4 to 20, but increased by +3 to 24 in another part of the Marcellus ( SWPA ). Baker Hughes shows 1,757 active rigs.....

Oil rigs decreased by -9 to 1,285 (ht: -26; vt-dir: +17) and gas rigs decreased by -5 to 368 (ht: -5; vt-dir: unchanged). Horizontal oil rigs fell by -5 to 187 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and fell by -7 to 179 in the Bakken (ND).
