STATS shows 1,806 active rigs as of September 28, 2012, down -17 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs decreased by -15 (ht: +6, vt-dir: -21.) and total gas rigs decreased by -2 (ht: -9, vt-dir: +7). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +7 and +4 in Permian (NM) and Bakken (ND) to 42 and 201, respectively. Horizontal oil rig count decreased by -4 in Eagle Ford (TX) from its record high last week. Permian (TX) and “Other” both lost -8 Vertical/Directional oil rigs. Horizontal gas rigs decreased by -4 i.....

U.S. crude oil inventories declined by -2,446k bbl in the week ended September 21, while Cushing stocks decreased by -83k bbl. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Non-commercial net length expanded across the petroleum complex during the week ended September 18. Non-commercial net length in WTI is at the highest level since March 13 .....

Eagle Ford (TX) recorded its highest horizontal oil rig count this week, (up +9 to 204). Six horizontal oil rigs moved from Anadarko (OK) to Anadarko (TX) ending the week at 110 and 26, respectively.
