STATS shows 1,842 active rigs as of August 17, 2012, up +18 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs were up by +2 (ht: +19, vt-dir: -17) and total gas rigs increased by +16 (ht: +1, vt-dir: +15). Horizontal oil rigs went up by +3 in Anadarko (OK) and Bakken (ND), while going down by -2 in Anadarko (TX). Vertical/Directional oil rigs went down by -6 in Eagle Ford (TX) and by -4 in Anadarko (OK) and Permian (TX). Horizontal gas rigs went up by +5 in Eagle Ford (TX), while going down by -2 in Fayettevil.....

U.S. crude oil inventories declined by -3,699k bbl in the week ended August 10, while Cushing stocks rose by +899k bbl.
