Schlumberger (Smith) Rigs
STATS shows 1,849 active rigs as of January 6, 2012, down -26 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs rose by +1 (ht: +5, vt-dir: -4) and total gas rigs dropped by -27 (ht: -31, vt-dir: +4). West Virginia Marcellus horizontal gas rigs dropped by -14, from 42 to 28. Moreover, total number of horizontal oil rigs in WV remained zero, suggestion the sharp drop is not due to rig re-classification. It is likely that the suspension of operations at five wells used for disposing of hydraulic fracturing flowb.....

U.S. crude oil inventories rose by +2,209k bbl in the week ending December 30, while Cushing stocks drew -613k bbl. Distillate inventories increased by +3,224k bbl and gasoline inventories posted a gain of +2,479k bbl.
