Baker Hughes shows 1,733 active rigs as of October 18, 2013, lower by -3 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -6 to 1,361 (ht: -12; vt-dir: +6) and gas-directed rigs increased by +3 to 372 (ht: +6; vt-dir: -3). Horizontal oil rigs fell by -3 to 86 in the Anadarko (OK) and by -2 to 148 in the Bakken (ND). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +1 to 20 and 22 in the Marcellus (WV and SWPA , respectively) and also increased by +1 to 21 and 18 in the Haynesville (TX and LA, respectivel.....

Oil rigs decreased by -5 to 1,367 (ht: +14; vt-dir: -19) and gas-directed rigs decreased by -9 to 369 (ht: -7; vt-dir: -2). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +6 in the Anadarko (TX) to 43 and by +3 to 130 in the Permian (TX), while vertical/directional oil rigs fell by -13 to 215 in states not associated with an active resource play.
