Commitments of Traders Report – June 16, 2014
Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended June 10. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in Brent and WTI , but decreased in natural gas, heating oil and gasoline during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas declined by -1.2k to +316.6k in futures and fell by -3.0k to +434.8k in fut.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,852 active rigs as of June 13, 2014, lower by -4 from the previous week. The number of oil rigs increased by +6 at 1,542 (ht: +6; vt-dir: 0) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -10 to 310 (ht: -8; vt-dir: -2). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +2 to 191 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and the vertical/directional oil rigs increased by +5 to 13 in the Anadarko (OK). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +3 to 22 in Marcellus ( NEPA ).

Propane: US propane inventories increased by +3.4m bbl to 49.2m bbl for the week ended June 6, 2014. PADD 3 inventories increased +10%, or +2.5m bbl, to 27.2m bbl. PADD 2 stocks increased by +3%, or +483k bbl, to 16.6m bbl. In PADD 1, stocks increased by +5% or +154k bbl to 3.4m bbl. Implied demand increased +6% to 760 kb/d; imports increased +41% to 55 kb/d and production fell -1% to 1.50 mb/d last week. U.S. crude oil inventories decreased by -2596k bbl in the week ended June 06, while Cushing stocks fell by -198k bbl. Distillate inventories rose by +860k bbl and gasoline inventories increased by +1697k bbl. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in gasoline , but decreased in natural gas, heating oil, Brent and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas decreased by -21.0k to +317.9k in futures and declined by -11.7k to +437.8k in.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,856 active rigs as of June 6, 2014, lower by -6 from the previous week. The number of oil rigs remained constant at 1,536 (ht: +1; vt-dir: -1) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -6 to 320 (ht: -2; vt-dir: -4). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -5 to 189 in the Eagle Ford (TX) but increased by +4 to 64 in the Permian (NM). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +2 to 19 in Barnett (TX).

In Focus: March EIA stat highlights Total U.S. gas plant NGL production increased +4% in March to 2,793 kb/d, and was up +13% compared to 2013. Production in the Marcellus was up +6% m-o-m and +155% y-o-y at 168 kb/d. Bakken production increased +5% to 62 kb/d in March and was +27% higher compared to last year. Texas Inland gas plant production was +12% higher y-o-y at 1,192 kb/d.
