STATS shows 1,830 active rigs as of August 3, 2012, down -28 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs were down by -7 (ht: -9, vt-dir: +2) and total gas rigs decreased by -21 (ht: -13, vt-dir: -8). Horizontal oil rigs went down by -3 in Bakken (ND), Eagle Ford (TX) and Permian (TX), while going up by +3 in Barnett Combo (TX). Vertical/Directional oil rigs went up by +4 in Eagle Ford (TX), while going down by -3 in Permian (TX) and by -2 in Monterey (CA). Horizontal gas rigs were down by -3 in Eagle Fo.....

U.S. crude oil inventories declined by -6,522k bbl in the week ended July 27, while Cushing stocks fell by -1,385k bbl. Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended July 24. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Non-commercials expanded net length slightly in WTI during the week ended July 24. Non-commercial net length increased by +8.9k to 229.6k in futures and by +8.1k to 273.2k in fu.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,921 active rigs as of July 24, 2012, down -11 from a week ago. Oil rigs were up by +2 (ht: -3, vt-dir: +5) and total gas rigs dropped by -13 (ht: -10, vt-dir: -3). Horizontal oil rigs went down by -5 in Bakken (ND) and -4 in Eagle Ford (TX) and Permian (NM), while going up by +3 in Permian (TX).
