Schlumberger (Smith) Rigs
STATS shows 1,843 active rigs as of January 13, 2012, down -6 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs rose by +7 (ht: -1, vt-dir: +8) and total gas rigs dropped by -13 (ht: -4, vt-dir: -9). Eagle Ford Gas rigs dropped by -6 and Oil rigs rose by +7, which would imply re-classification.

U.S. crude oil inventories rose by +4,958k bbl in the week ending January 6, while Cushing stocks drew -191k bbl. Distillate inventories increased by +3,985k bbl and gasoline inventories posted a gain of +3,610k bbl.

STATS shows 1,849 active rigs as of January 6, 2012, down -26 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs rose by +1 (ht: +5, vt-dir: -4) and total gas rigs dropped by -27 (ht: -31, vt-dir: +4). West Virginia Marcellus horizontal gas rigs dropped by -14, from 42 to 28. Moreover, total number of horizontal oil rigs in WV remained zero, suggestion the sharp drop is not due to rig re-classification. It is likely that the suspension of operations at five wells used for disposing of hydraulic fracturing flowb.....

We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil.
