STATS shows 1,830 active rigs as of September 14, 2012, up +27 rig from a week ago. Oil rigs went up by +23 (ht: +8, vt-dir: +15) and total gas rigs went up by +4 (ht: -2, vt-dir: +6). Horizontal oil rigs went up by +5 in Eagle Ford (TX) and by +4 in Anadarko (OK) and Bakken (ND), while going down by -3 in Anadarko (KS) and -2 in Permian (TX). STATS shows 1,803 active rigs as of September 7, 2012, down -32 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs were down by -24 (ht: -11, vt-dir: -13) and total gas rigs decreased by -8 (ht: +4, vt-dir: -12). Horizontal oil rigs went down by -6 in Bakken (ND), followed by -4 in Permian (TX) and by -3 in Eagle Ford (TX). They went up in “other” areas driven by gains in Texas (+2) and Louisiana (+2).
