EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | October 03, 2019

October 03, 2019

Dear , The EIA reported a +112 bcf increase in inventories this week. The build was aligned with our expectations and +5 bcf above the Bloomberg median. Please follow the link below to find our commentary: While our accuracy on this week’s total build was a pleasant surprise, we can’t deny a certain amount of the “precision” is attributable to luck, especially concerning non-salts, where we are still trying to improve on our lackluster track record this injection season. This week’s report showe.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | September 26, 2019

September 26, 2019

The EIA reported a +102 bcf increase in inventories this week. The build was +10 bcf higher than both our forecast and the Bloomberg median. We underestimated builds in both the East and South Central this week. Our early forecast for next week’s number is an injection in the mid to low-110 bcf range. In our Tuesday report we highlighted the substantial week-over-week drop in Eastern power burns, today’s reported injection suggests the drop was even larger than our model anticipated. Tight pip.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | September 19, 2019

September 19, 2019

The EIA reported an +84 bcf increase in inventories this week. The build was +8 bcf higher than both our forecast and the Bloomberg median. Our two largest regional misses this week were in the East, which came as a surprise and South Central non-salts which were less surprising given our summer track record. Our early forecast for next week’s number is an injection in the mid-80 bcf range. Pipeline constraints in the Northeast likely contributed to our miss this week…

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | September 12, 2019

September 12, 2019

Please note our extended U.S. and Canada tables covering the injection season are included in the attachment. The EIA reported a +78 bcf increase in inventories this week. The build was -5 bcf lower than our forecast and -3 bcf lower than the Bloomberg median. Most of our miss was once again in the South Central non-salt number. Our early forecast for next week’s number is an injection in the high-70 bcf range. At this point we run the risk of sounding like a broken record by attributing.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | September 05, 2019

September 5, 2019

The EIA reported a +84 bcf increase in inventories this week. The build was +7 bcf higher than both our forecast and the Bloomberg median. Our largest misses this week were in the Midwest and South Central, though the magnitude of the error in the South Central is unclear due to differences between the total reported South Central number and the salt/non-salt split. Our early forecast for next week’s number is an injection in the mid-80 bcf range. The large swing in power burns this week m.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | August 29, 2019

August 29, 2019

The EIA reported a +60 bcf increase in inventories this week. The build was +2 bcf higher than our forecast and +3 bcf higher than the Bloomberg median. The only miss in our regional breakdown this week was in the Midwest where we underestimated injections. Our early forecast for next week’s number is an injection in the high 70 bcf range. Growing Northeast production and fluctuating regional power burns have not only led to swingy intraregional injections but have also resulted in volatil.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | August 22, 2019

August 22, 2019

The EIA reported a +59 bcf increase in inventories this week. The build was -3 bcf lower than our forecast and in line with the the Bloomberg median. Our overestimate of South Central non-salt injections this week was partially offset by higher than projected builds in the East and Midwest. Our early forecast for next week’s number is an injection near the mid-50 bcf mark. In last week’s report we determined our recent non-salt misses were correlated to shifts in South Central power demand.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | August 15, 2019

August 15, 2019

The EIA reported a +49 bcf increase in inventories this week. The build was -8 bcf lower than our estimate and -10 bcf lower than the Bloomberg median. For the second week in a row our overestimate in South Central non-salts proved to be our undoing. Our early estimate for next week’s number is an injection near the high 50 bcf mark. On Tuesday, we expected the South Central would be the linchpin in this week’s forecast, we assumed the Sabine Pass outage would partially mitigate both stron.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | August 08, 2019

August 8, 2019

Please note our extended U.S. and Canada tables covering the injection season are included in the attachment. The EIA reported a +55 bcf increase in inventories this week. The build was -6 bcf lower than our estimate and -5 bcf lower than the Bloomberg median. Once again South Central non-salts were our undoing, coming in 5 bcf below our estimate. Our early estimate for next week’s number is an injection around the low 50 bcf mark. In Tuesday’s report we highlighted our uncertainty regar.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | August 01, 2019

August 1, 2019

The EIA reported a +65 bcf increase in inventories this week. The build was +10 bcf higher than our estimate and +8 bcf higher than the Bloomberg median. Our large miss this week was almost entirely in the South Central region with salts drawing 6 bcf less than we expected and non-salts injecting 3 bcf more than we expected. Our early estimate for next week’s number is an injection around the mid-60 bcf mark. After a two week reprieve, non-salts returned to builds in excess of 5-year highs.....
