Please note our extended U.S. and Canada tables covering the remainder of the withdrawal season are included in the attachment. The EIA reported a -113 bcf withdrawal for the week ending December 31, coming in stronger than our own number at -103 bcf, and the Bloomberg median at -100 bcf. Today’s report also marked the first time a revision was acknowledged since the EIA transitioned to a 5-region era with tighter revision tolerances. As a result of the 4 bcf reclassification (from base to.....

The EIA reported a -58 bcf withdrawal for the week ending December 24, coming in lighter than our own number at -70 bcf, but stronger than the Bloomberg median at -54 bcf. Regionally the surprise came from the South Central and the East. After a few weeks of relatively tight numbers, the EIA estimate came in more in line with weather-driven supply and demand models rather than the scrapes. The two large draws reported by the East systems on Monday certainly skewed our model towards a stronge.....

The EIA reported a -32 bcf withdrawal for the week ending December 17, coming in line with our own number at -33 bcf, but stronger than the Bloomberg median at -26 bcf. Compared to last week, this draw implies a significant tightening of the weather-adjusted balance after losing -18 TDDs week-on-week. Stronger power burns can explain some of the tightness, but production declines could be playing a role as well. As weather forecasts turn colder for the 6-15 day period, we should get a chance t.....

The EIA reported a -34 bcf withdrawal for the week ending December 10, coming in lighter than our own number at -38 bcf and the Bloomberg median at -40 bcf. The EIA reported a -76 bcf withdrawal for the week ending December 3, coming in stronger than our own number at -67 bcf and the Bloomberg median at -65 bcf. Regionally most of the surprise came from the withdrawal reported by salt-dome facilities given that we observed an injection of over 4 bcf from interstate pipeline flows. The overall withdrawal was also quite stronger than market expectations, which had already been boosted from a mid-50s pull, following large draws reported by the big st.....

Today the EIA reported the first withdrawal of the season at -53 bcf, coming in line with our own number at -52 bcf, but stronger than the Bloomberg median at -47 bcf. Regionally the Midwest surprised with a stronger than expected withdrawal, while the South Central reported a smaller than expected withdrawal. That would imply that the South Central is relying less on exports and more on storage to balance supply and demand as injections come to an end. The withdrawal for the week ending N.....

Please note that the Canadian inventory overview is excluded from this week’s report as the data will be released tomorrow. Today the EIA reported a +9 bcf injection for the reference week ending November 19 coming in below our own number at +12 bcf, but above the Bloomberg median at +7 bcf. After accounting for the regional rounding errors, the surprise was concentrated in the Midwest and salt-domes. It would appear that intrastate facilities that we cannot track are already withdrawing, e.....

Today the EIA reported a +15 bcf injection for the reference week ending November 12 and switched to the new regional breakdown. The injection came in below our own number at +19 bcf and the Bloomberg median at +19 bcf, but with five regions instead of the old three regions, the rounding error can create larger differences between estimates. The regional breakdown, though, was closer to expectations with the Mountain and Pacific regions being the first to enter the withdrawal season. On Mo.....
