The EIA reported a -29 bcf net change in inventory this week, but implied flow out of storage was only -20 bcf due to a reclassification in non-salt fields in the South Central. The net change was in line with our estimate but implied flow was way off. Bloomberg median was at -26 bcf, with average expectation at -27 bcf. Please find the attached data and charts detailing U.S. gas imports and power demand for the week ended March 29, 2018. Total net imports for the reference week averaged -1.38 bcf/d, down by -0.32 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged -0.86 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 23.5 bcf/d, down by -0.7 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 81 electric weighted HDDs, down by 15 week over week.

The EIA reported a -63 bcf withdrawal for the week ending March 22, 2018; a 4 bcf weaker pull than our estimate and 8 bcf weaker pull than the Bloomberg median. Our overestimate for the Northeast draws this week was partially offset by our overestimate of South Central injections. Our preliminary expectation for next week is a draw in the -27 bcf draw. As we begin to slowly shift to the injection season, evolving flow patterns are already providing some interesting insight on the early part .....

Oil rigs decreased by -7 to 797 (ht: -8; vt-dir: +1), and gas-directed rigs increased by +4 to 194 (ht: +7; vt-dir: -3).
