Starting this week, LCMC Research will publish a single rig report (US_RigWatch_combined_20121109.pdf). This report contains both STATS and Baker Hughes data, comparing and contrasting the activity posted by the two sources. EIA reported a +21 bcf injection for the week ended November 1 (Bloomberg median +26 bcf, Bloomberg Whisper +25 bcf). The 23 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +16 bcf to +34 bcf with a standard deviation of 5 bcf. Our model showed +26 bcf. Nationwide cooling degree days reported by NOAA decreased to 3 CDDs from 12 CDDs the prior week. Nationwide HDDs increased to 101 from 56 in the prior week. Commitment of Traders Report - November 2
Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended October 30. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Non-commercials reduced net length in WTI during the week ended October 30, a third consecutive decline. Non-commercials decreased WTI net length by -14.9k to 226.9k in futu.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,797 active rigs as of November 2, 2012, down -27 from a week ago. Oil rigs decreased by -35 (ht: -8, vt-dir: -27) and total gas rigs increased by +8 (ht: +8., vt-dir: unch). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -5 in Bakken (ND). Vertical/Directional oil rigs decreased by -6 in Permian (TX), -5 in Texas outside established shale plays and -4 in Permian (NM). STATS shows 1,746 active rigs as of November 2, 2012, down -17 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs decreased by -11 (ht: -8, vt-dir: -3.) and total gas rigs decreased by -6 (ht: +1, vt-dir: -7). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -6 in Eagle Ford (TX), and by -4 in Oklahoma area outside of Anadarko. Horizontal oil rigs increased by +4 to 30 in Anadarko (TX). Vertical/Directional oil rigs decreased by -3 nationwide. Horizontal gas rigs increased by +3 to 51 in Eagle Ford (TX) and +2 to 26 in Marcel.....

In this Special Edition of EIA NG Storage Report, we provide a power outage breakdown by state and by utility. EIA reported a +65 bcf injection for the week ended October 26 (Bloomberg median +68 bcf, Bloomberg Whisper +69 bcf). The 23 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +64 bcf to +78 bcf with a standard deviation of 4 bcf. Our model showed +69 bcf. Irion County, TX has been moved from “Other – Texas” to “Permian (TX)” within oil rig groupings. Historical values in the attached .xlsx file have been updated to reflect that change.
