EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | February 25, 2010

-172 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -172 bcf storage draw for the week ending Feb 19, roughly in line with the market consensus. The Bloomberg survey showed a relatively tight range of projections for the week (-165 to -175 bcf) in a winter that has featured widely divergent expectations most weeks. More importantly, the reported draw indicated fundamentals in line with those of the last two weeks taken together. The past three weeks have suggested weather-adjusted fundamentals that.....

-190 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -190 bcf natural gas storage withdrawal for the week ending Feb 18. The withdrawal comes on the heels of last week’s -191 bcf despite a slight moderation of weather (232 HDD vs. 242 the prior week). Although this withdrawal indicates a bit of a correction from the very loose apparent fundamentals in last week’s report, it does indicate that last week’s report was not entirely a fluke with balances now looser than they were in Jan. The past two w.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | February 12, 2010

-191 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -191 bcf inventory draw for the week ending Feb 5, with cold weather prompting a larger draw than last year’s -164 bcf and the -155 bcf 5yr average. Many pipeline scape models indicating a significantly smaller draw than weather patterns had suggested left the market primed for a more bearish number, which makes this report a slightly bullish in the near term. Though the draw came in above market expectations it is actually a slightly bearish sign.....

-115 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported that total US natural gas inventories declined 115 bcf last week, a draw slightly smaller than market consensus and somewhat bearish relative to the prior three weeks. Aided by warm temperatures ( HDD 14.0% lower than the 30yr norm and 20.8% lower y-o-y), the withdrawal came in well short of last year’s -194 bcf and th -178 bcf 5yr average. Total US: -115 bcf (Bloomberg median expectation -121 bcf) East: -83 bcf West: -21 bcf Producing: -11 bc.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | January 28, 2010

-86 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a natural gas storage withdrawal of -86 bcf for the week ending Jan 22. Though the withdrawal came in on the low end of analyst surveys, this report is neutral as most market participants were likely anticipating a withdrawal in the 80s. Total US: -86 bcf (Bloomberg survey median -102 bcf) East: -67 bcf West: -16 bcf Producing: -3 bcf Statistical summary attached. Total US inventories now stand at 2.52 tcf, 120 bcf above last year and 87 bc.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | January 21, 2010

-245 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -245 bcf natural gas storage withdrawal for the week ending January 15, with the cold Dec and early Jan weather nearly eliminating the entire year-on-year inventory surplus. But temperatures have risen since mid-month and with warm weather on the horizon, relatively meager withdrawals should rebuild a sizable surplus over the next two weeks. Though the withdrawal came in above consensus expectations as indicated by the Bloomberg survey (-230 bcf m.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | January 14, 2010

-266 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -266 bcf draw, coming in between consensus estimates on Bloomberg (-260 bcf median) and pipeline models that hovered in the low-to-mid -270s. In all, this week’s report is slightly bearish, particularly when considered in conjunction with the revision of last week’s report, which increased the Christmas/New Year draw by 5 bcf to 158 bcf. Some market participants had been looking for the draw to break the all-time record of -274 bcf (Jan 25, ’08) o.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | January 07, 2010

-153 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -153 bcf storage withdrawal for the week ending Jan 1, in line with the Bloomberg median expectation of a -153 bcf draw, but above many pipeline models that were anticipating a withdrawal in the high 130s to low 140s. Though the number came in above some expectations, this is a hard week to assess apparent fundamentals because the reference week straddled both the Christmas holiday weekend and New Years Day. Total US: -153 bcf (Bloomberg median .....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | December 31, 2009

-124 bcf (bearish)

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a bearish -124 bcf inventory draw for the week ending December 25. Just as quickly as fundamentals appeared to tighten earlier this month, balances have loosened considerably to exit 2009. The EIA report came in well below market consensus (Bloomberg median -145 bcf) and below many pipeline models in the high 130s and low 140s. Total US: -124 bcf (Bloomberg survey median -145 bcf) East: -90 bcf West: -11 bcf Producing: -23 bcf Statistical s.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | December 24, 2009

+166 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -166 bcf storage draw for the week ending December 18. The withdrawal came in shy of consensus expectations (Bloomberg median expectation of -172) and well short of many pipeline-based models that suggested draws in the high 170s or 180s. Though the report suggests apparent fundamentals significantly looser than those suggested by last week’s reported -207 bcf report, this week’s report suggests balances similar to those indicated by the -64 bcf r.....
