EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | September 19, 2019

The EIA reported an +84 bcf increase in inventories this week. The build was +8 bcf higher than both our forecast and the Bloomberg median. Our two largest regional misses this week were in the East, which came as a surprise and South Central non-salts which were less surprising given our summer track record. Our early forecast for next week’s number is an injection in the mid-80 bcf range. Pipeline constraints in the Northeast likely contributed to our miss this week…

E: +20; MW: +34; MTN : +5; PAC : +5; SC: +12 (S: 0, NS: +12). There are currently 5 analysts reporting on Bloomberg with an average of +75 bcf. Over the next four weeks (incl. this week) we are anticipating +76, +85, +100, +109, for a total of +370 bcf, compared to last year’s +317 bcf and 5-yr average of +328 bcf. Total net exports averaged.....

Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended September 10. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in Brent, gasoline, natural gas, gasoil, heating oil and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas rose by +67.4k to -65.0k in futures and increased by +65.8k to -57.1k in fu.....

US: Baker Hughes shows 886 active rigs as of September 13, 2019, lower by -12 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -5 to 733 (ht: -3; vt-dir: -2), and gas-directed rigs decreased by -7 to 153 (ht: -4; vt-dir: -3). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +1 in Anadarko (OK), by +1 in Bakken (ND), by +1 in Permian (NM) and by +3 in Other areas not associated with a specific play, while declining by -7 in Permian (TX) and by -2 in Anadarko (TX). Please note our extended U.S. and Canada tables covering the injection season are included in the attachment. The EIA reported a +78 bcf increase in inventories this week. The build was -5 bcf lower than our forecast and -3 bcf lower than the Bloomberg median. Most of our miss was once again in the South Central non-salt number. Our early forecast for next week’s number is an injection in the high-70 bcf range. At this point we run the risk of sounding like a broken record by attributing.....
