US: Baker Hughes shows 1045 active rigs as of February 01, 2019, lower by -14 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -15 to 847 (ht: -7; vt-dir: -8), and gas-directed rigs increased by +1 to 198 (ht: unch; vt-dir: +1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +1 in Anadarko (TX) and by +1 in Bakken (ND), while declining by -3 in Anadarko (OK), by -1 in Bakken (MT), by -1 in Permian (TX) and by -4 in Other areas not associated with a specific play. EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | January 31, 2019

The EIA reported a -173 bcf decrease in inventories this week. This week’s draw was 15 bcf lower than our estimate and 22 bcf below the Bloomberg median. With this week’s lower than expected draw, our bias mentioned on Tuesday proved to be true as the error term in our models, which had been growing over the past 3-weeks, virtually disappeared this week.
