Oil rigs increased by +5 to 863 (ht: +6; vt-dir: -1), and gas-directed rigs were unchanged at 187 (ht: -2; vt-dir: +2). Please find the attached data and charts detailing U.S. gas imports and power demand for the week ended June 28, 2018. Total net imports for the reference week averaged -2.32 bcf/d, down -0.28 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged -1.05 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 32.9 bcf/d, down by -0.9 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 75 population weighted CDDs, down by -5 week over week.

Oil rigs decreased by -4 to 858 (ht: -2; vt-dir: -2), and gas-directed rigs decreased by -1 to 187 (ht: -2; vt-dir: +1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +3 in Permian (TX), by +2 in Anadarko (OK) and by +1 in Permian (NM), while declining by -2 in Bakken (ND), by -2 in Eagle Ford (TX), by -2 in Monterey (CA) and by -2 in Other areas not associated with a specific play. The EIA reported a +66 bcf net change in inventory this week. The injection was 1 bcf below our estimate and -6 bcf lower than the Bloomberg median. Our preliminary estimate for next week’s number is a build in the mid 70 bcf range. The large drop in net injections week over week was made even more significant with the upward revision to last week’s inventory level, resulting in net injections falling by 29 bcf/d. Total net imports for the reference week averaged -2.04 bcf/d, flat week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged -0.73 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 33.8 bcf/d, up by 4.1 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 80 population weighted CDDs, up by 14 week over week.
