Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended March 20. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in Brent, gasoil, heating oil and WTI , but decreased in gasoline and natural gas during the reference week. US: Baker Hughes shows 994 active rigs as of March 23, 2018, higher by +5 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +4 to 804 (ht: +1; vt-dir: +3), and gas-directed rigs increased by +1 to 190 (ht: +4; vt-dir: -3). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +3 in Eagle Ford (TX), by +3 in Permian (TX) and by +1 in Permian (NM), while declining by -6 in Anadarko (OK). The EIA reported a -86 bcf withdrawal for the week ending March 15, 2018; a 1 bcf stronger pull than our estimate and 2 bcf weaker pull than the Bloomberg median. Our overestimate of South Central draws this week was offset by an underestimate of Midwest pulls. Our preliminary expectation for next week is a draw in the mid -70 bcf range. This week’s withdrawal puts inventories back in line with Winter 14/15 and based on current weather forecasts our models expect that we will end the season .....

Please find the attached data and charts detailing U.S. gas imports and power demand for the week ended March 15, 2018. Total net imports for the reference week averaged -1.11 bcf/d, up by +0.60 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged -0.41 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 25.3 bcf/d, up by -0.2 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 115 electric weighted HDDs, up by 2 week over week.

The EIA reported a -93 bcf withdrawal for the week ending March 8, 2018; a 3 bcf weaker pull than our estimate and 5 bcf weaker pull than the Bloomberg median. While most of our regional models performed remarkably well this week, our South Central model overestimated the draw from non-salt storage, accounting for almost the entire 3 bcf difference. Our preliminary expectation for next week’s number is in the low 90 bcf range. While system wide deliverability concerns stoked by early January.....
