The EIA reported a +33 bcf net build in inventory this week. The injection was +1 bcf higher than our estimate and +4 bcf higher than the Bloomberg median. Most of our miss this week was in our regional breakdown where we overestimated East injections are underestimated Midwest injections. Our preliminary estimate for next week’s number is an injection in the low 50 bcf range. This week again posted a strong summer draw on South Central storage, in part these draws are due to demand within.....

Please find the attached data and charts detailing U.S. gas imports and power demand for the week ended August 9, 2018. Total net imports for the reference week averaged -2.50 bcf/d, up +0.27 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged -0.93 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 39.9 bcf/d, up by +2.9 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 102 population weighted CDDs, up by +19 week over week.

We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in natural gas and gasoil , but decreased in Brent, gasoline, heating oil and WTI during the reference week. US: Baker Hughes shows 1055 active rigs as of August 10, 2018, higher by +13 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +10 to 869 (ht: +14; vt-dir: -4), and gas-directed rigs increased by +3 to 186 (ht: -2; vt-dir: +5). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +4 in Permian (NM), by +3 in Permian (TX), by +2 in Anadarko (TX), by +2 in Monterey (CA) and by +6 in Other areas not associated with a specific play, while declining by -2 in Eagle Ford (TX) and by -1 in Barnett Combo (TX). Please note our extended U.S. and Canada tables covering the injection season are included in the attachment. The EIA reported a +46 bcf net build in inventory this week. The injection was -1 bcf lower than our estimate and -1 bcf lower than the Bloomberg median. Our overestimate for injections in the East and Midwest were offset by an overestimate in South Central draws this week.
