Baker Hughes shows 505 active rigs as of September 16, 2016, lower by -1 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +2 to 416 (ht: unch; vt-dir: +2), while gas-directed rigs decreased by -3 to 89 (ht: -2; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +2 in Anadarko (OK) and by +1 in Eagle Ford (TX), while decreasing by -2 in Bakken (ND) and by -1 in Anadarko (TX). Horizontal gas rigs decreased by -1 in Eagle Ford (TX), by -1 in Haynesville (LA) and by -1 in Other, while increasing by +1 in Wo.....

The EIA reported a +62 bcf injection for the week ending September 8, coming in above our estimate of +58 bcf and the Bloomberg median at +61 bcf. Practically all the miss in our model came from the South Central, where the inventory-build in the salt domes across the South Central remained relatively robust despite the strength in cash. Please find attached data and charts detailing U. S. gas imports and power demand for the week ended September 8, 2016. Total net trade for the reference week averaged -0.27 bcf/d (US became a net exporter for the first time), lower by -0.95 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged 2.04 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 29.8 bcf/d, lower by -4.3 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 70 population.....

We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in natural gas , but decreased in Brent, gasoline, gasoil, heating oil and WTI during the reference week. Oil rigs increased by +7 to 414 (ht: -3; vt-dir: +10), while gas-directed rigs increased by +4 to 92 (ht: +4; vt-dir: unch). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -4 in Anadarko (OK) and by -2 in Permian (NM), while increasing by +3 in Anadarko (TX). Horizontal gas rigs increased by +2 in Marcellus (WV) and by +2 in Other.

The EIA reported a +36 bcf injection for the week ending September 1, coming in below our estimate of +41 bcf and the Bloomberg median at +42 bcf. Midwest injection exceeded our expectation by 4 bcf, and our model failed to capture the sharp withdrawals in South Central, especially among non-salt fields. Both regions have limited flow visibility and it is hard to speculate on the specifics of the causes, especially in the Midwest. As for South Central, cash front-month spread approached 10.....
