Baker Hughes shows 1,968 active rigs as of April 20, 2012, up +22 from a week ago. Oil rigs went up by +15 (ht: +10, vt-dir: +5) and total gas rigs went up by +7 (ht: unch, vt-dir: +7). Horizontal oil rigs went up by +4 in Eagle Ford (TX), while going down by -2 in Permian (NM). Vertical/Directional oil rigs went up by +7 in Permian (TX) and +2 in Permian (NM). Horizontal gas rigs went down by -3 in Marcellus ( NEPA ), while going up by +2 in Woodford (Arkoma)

STATS shows 1,897 active rigs as of April 20, 2012, up +5 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs went up by +23 (ht: +11, vt-dir: +12) and total gas rigs went down by -18 (ht: -11, vt-dir: -7). Horizontal oil rigs went up by +5 in Monterey (CA) and by +3 in Bakken (ND), Eagle Ford (TX) and Permian (NM). Horizontal oil rigs fell by -3 in Anadarko (TX) and by -2 in Permian (TX). EIA reported a +25 bcf injection for the week ended April 13 (Bloomberg median +25 bcf, Bloomberg Whisper +26 bcf). The 25 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +10 bcf to +41 bcf with a standard deviation of 7 bcf. Our pipeline scrape model showed +23 bcf. Weather was cooler week on week (101 HDDs vs. 84 HDDs), and lower temperatures in the Southeast lowered total cooling demand to 7 CDDs from 13 CDDs the prior week. The 26 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +13 bcf to +41 bcf with a standard deviation of 7 bcf. Our pipeline scrape model showed +21 bcf. Weather was cooler week on week (84 HDDs vs. 77 HDDs), but at the same time we also had higher CDDs because of warmer weather in the south (13 CDDs vs. 8 CDDs).
