Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended April 3. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Non-commercials cut net length in WTI (at the sharpest pace since August 9, 2011) during the week ended April 3 as the price of WTI fell -3% w-o-w to reach $104.01 on April 3......

Schlumberger (Smith) STATS
STATS shows 1,893 active rigs as of April 6, 2012, down -9 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs went up by +18 (ht: +8, vt-dir: +10) and total gas rigs fell by -27 (ht: -20, vt-dir: -7). Horizontal oil rigs went up by +4 in Eagle Ford (TX), followed by +3 in Anadarko (OK) and +3 in Anadarko (TX), while falling by -4 in Bakken (ND) and -2 in Barnett Combo (TX) and -2 in Monterey (CA). Vertical/directional oil rigs went down by -4 in Monterey (CA), and went up by +2 in Eagle Ford (TX) and +2 in Perm.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,976 active rigs as of April 5, 2012, unchanged from a week ago. Oil rigs went up by +11 (ht: -2, vt-dir: +13) and total gas rigs went down by -11 (ht: -13, vt-dir: +2). Horizontal oil rigs went down by -3 in Anadarko (OK), followed by -2 in Bakken (ND), while going up by +2 in Anadarko (TX). EIA reported a +42 bcf injection for the week ended March 30 (Bloomberg median +34 bcf, Bloomberg Whisper +33 bcf). The 27 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +25 bcf to +45 bcf with a standard deviation of 5 bcf. Our pipeline scrape model showed +34 bcf. Weather was cooler week on week (77 HDDs vs. 50 HDDs) as higher temperatures in the Northeast more than outweighed a slightly cooler Northwest. Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended March 27. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Baker Hughes shows 1,976 active rigs as of March 30, 2012, up +11 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs went up by +5 (ht: +1, vt-dir: +4) and total gas rigs went up by +6 (ht: +5, vt-dir: +1). Horizontal oil rigs went down by -5 in Eagle Ford (TX), followed by -3 in Anadarko (OK), while going up by +2 in Bakken (MT) and Permian (TX). Gas rigs did not have any significant moves on a regional basis.

EIA reported a +57 bcf injection for the week ended March 23 (Bloomberg median +48 bcf, Bloomberg Whisper +48 bcf). The 26 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +40 bcf to +70 bcf with a standard deviation of 6 bcf. Our pipeline scrape model showed +44 bcf.
