TATS shows 1,835 active rigs as of August 31, 2012, down -9 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs were down by -1 (ht: +15, vt-dir: -16) and total gas rigs decreased by -8 (ht: +1, vt-dir: -9). Horizontal oil rigs went up by +14 in Eagle Ford (TX), followed by +5 in Anadarko (OK) and by +3 in Bakken (MT), while going down by -3 in Bakken (ND) and by -2 in Anadarko (TX) and Permian (TX). Baker Hughes shows 1,894 active rigs as of August 24, 2012, down -15 from a week ago. Oil rigs went down by -17 (ht: +1, vt-dir: -18) and total gas rigs went up by +2 (ht: +5, vt-dir: -3). Horizontal oil rigs went up by +4 in Permian (NM) and +3 in Anadarko (OK), while going down by -3 in Permian (TX).
