EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | April 21, 2011

+47 bcf

EIA reported a +47 bcf natural gas inventory build for the week ending April 15. This was a slightly smaller injection than consensus estimates (Bloomberg median +52 bcf and the Bloomberg whisper of +52 bcf). The 5-year average storage injection for the calendar week is +34 bcf but last year there was a +75 bcf injection for the calendar week. This week’s injection implies tighter balances on both the week and the year (after adjusting for weather). Next week, we could see balances tighten on .....

+28 bcf

EIA reported a +28 bcf natural gas inventory build for the week ending April 8. This was a notably smaller injection than consensus estimates (Bloomberg median +35 bcf and the Bloomberg whisper of +38 bcf). The 5-year average storage injection for the calendar week is +28 bcf but last year there was a +79 bcf injection for the calendar week. This week’s injection still implies tighter balances compared to the same calendar week last year (after adjusting for weather), but balances appear looser.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | April 07, 2011

-45 bcf

EIA reported a -45 bcf natural gas inventory withdrawal for the week ending April 1. This was a notably smaller withdrawal than consensus estimates (Bloomberg median -52 bcf and the Bloomberg whisper of -56 bcf). This was also the first net withdrawal in the last week of March since 2008 owing to colder than normal weather conditions (166 HDD vs. 124 HDD 30-year normal). The 5-year average storage change for the calendar week is +12 bcf and last year there was a +29 bcf injection. This w.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | March 31, 2011

+12 bcf

The EIA reported a +12 bcf natural gas inventory injection for the week ending March 25 (the first net injection of the season). This is in stark contrast to consensus estimates which indicated a small withdrawal (Bloomberg median -2 bcf) and the 5-year average withdrawal of -22 bcf for the calendar week. However, this week’s injection is in line with the same calendar week last year which saw its second net injection of the season at +12 bcf. Weather-adjusted, this week’s injection makes bal.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | March 24, 2011

-6 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -6 bcf natural gas inventory withdrawal for the week ending March 18, a slightly smaller draw than consensus estimates (Bloomberg median -8 bcf) and the 5-year average (-17 bcf) for the calendar week. However, the net change in storage was still a withdrawal unlike the same calendar week last year which saw its first net injection of the season (+7 bcf). Weather-adjusted, this week’s withdrawal makes balances appear tighter on a year-ago basis—j.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | March 17, 2011

-56 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -56 bcf natural gas inventory withdrawal for the week ending March 11, a larger draw than consensus estimates (Bloomberg median -42 bcf) and the year-ago withdrawal of -25 bcf, but largely in line with the 5yr average withdrawal of -58 bcf. Weather-adjusted, this withdrawal makes balances appear tighter on a year-ago basis. This is the first time balances have appeared tighter on the year since early February when colder-than-normal temperatures .....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | March 10, 2011

-71 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -71 bcf natural gas inventory build for the week ending March 4, a slightly smaller draw than consensus estimates (Bloomberg median -78 bcf) and well below the year-ago withdrawal (-112 bcf) as well as the 5yr average withdrawal (-107 bcf) due mostly to warmer weather. However, even weather-adjusted, the withdrawal makes balances appear slightly looser on a year-ago basis. Nonetheless, we are still anticipating end of March inventories in the 1......

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | March 03, 2011

-85 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -85 bcf storage withdrawal for the week ending February 25, in line with the Bloomberg median of -85 bcf but much smaller than the five-year average draw of -131 bcf and the year-ago draw of -124 bcf. This draw makes balances appear just slightly looser on both a year-ago and week-ago basis. However, the holiday effect, increased power generation from other sources, and the first net injection of the season in the producing region all contributed .....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | February 24, 2011

-81 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -81 bcf storage withdrawal for the week ending February 18, just slightly smaller than the Bloomberg median estimate of -83 bcf but much smaller than the five-year average draw of -148 bcf and the year-ago draw of -174 bcf. This draw appears looser than the same calendar week last year. However, the looser-looking balances are likely due to the large increases in temperature across the US during the reporting week. At the same time, even as we ap.....

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT | February 17, 2011

-233 bcf

EIA NG STORAGE REPORT The EIA reported a -233 bcf storage withdrawal for the week ending February 11, just slightly below the Bloomberg median estimate of -235 bcf but well above the five-year average draw of -150 bcf and the year-ago draw of -190 bcf. This draw indicates balances tighter than last year but in line with the prior week’s draw after adjusting for power outages in Texas and natural gas shortages in the Southwest US during the prior week. Total US: -233 bcf (Bloomberg med.....
