Baker Hughes shows 728 active rigs as of February 3, 2017, higher by +17 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +17 to 583 (ht: +16; vt-dir: +1), and gas-directed rigs was unchanged from 145 (ht: +1; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +5 in Anadarko (OK), by +5 in Permian (NM), by +3 in Permian (TX), by +2 in Eagle Ford (TX), by +1 in Anadarko (TX) and by +1 in Other, while decreasing by -1 in Bakken (ND). The EIA reported a -87 bcf withdrawal for the week ending January 26, in line with our estimate of -87 bcf and the Bloomberg median at -87 bcf. Yet, our victory lap was cut short by the regional breakdown. Once again, our models missed the Midwest and South Central inventory changes by a wide margin, overestimating Midwest draws and underestimating South Central call on storage. Total net imports for the reference week averaged -0.56 bcf/d, lower by -0.09 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged +2.93 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 20.4 bcf/d, lower by -0.6 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 95 electric-weighted HDDs, lower by -8 HDDs week over week.....

We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in natural gas and WTI , but decreased in Brent, gasoline, gasoil and heating oil during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas grew by +4.9k to +386.0k in futures and rose by +10.7k t.....

Oil rigs increased by +15 to 566 (ht: +17; vt-dir: -2), and gas-directed rigs increased by +3 to 145 (ht: +3; vt-dir: unch). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +7 in Permian (TX), by +4 in Permian (NM), by +3 in Eagle Ford (TX), by +2 in Anadarko (OK), by +1 in Bakken (ND) and by +1 in Bakken (MT), while decreasing by -1 in Other. The EIA reported a -119 bcf withdrawal for the week ending January 19, a slightly smaller draw than our estimate of -121 bcf and slightly larger than the Bloomberg median at -117 bcf. Despite a nationwide model output that was in line with the estimate reported by the EIA , our regional breakdown differed significantly from the EIA’s. Last week, most of the miss in our regional breakdown came from Midwest as our model posted -78 bcf vs EIA’s -70 bcf. This week our model underestimated East .....
