Baker Hughes shows 883 active rigs as of August 14, 2015, unchanged from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +2 to 672 (ht: +6; vt-dir: -4) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -2 to 213 (ht: -2; vt-dir: unch). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +7 in Permian (TX) and by +4 in Eagle Ford (TX), while declining by -3 in Bakken (ND) and Permian (NM). Vertical/Directional oil rigs declined by -6 in Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs declined by -3 in Eagle Ford (TX).

EIA reported a +65 bcf injection for the week ending August 6 (Bloomberg median +57 bcf, Bloomberg whisper: +57 bcf). The 21 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +38 bcf to +63 bcf with a standard deviation of 5 bcf. Our model showed +60 bcf. Nationwide natural gas-weighted heating degree days reported by NOAA increased by +1 HDD to 1 HDDs, while electricity-weighted cooling degree days decreased by -10 CDDs to 78 CDDs. Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended August 04. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in gasoil and WTI , but decreased in Brent, gasoline, natural gas and heating oil during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas grew by +6.9k to +27.5k in futures and declined by -0.1k .....

The 24 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +37 bcf to +55 bcf with a standard deviation of 4 bcf. Our model showed +39 bcf. Nationwide natural gas-weighted heating degree days reported by NOAA decreased by -1 HDD to 0 HDDs, while electricity-weighted cooling degree days increased by +5 CDDs to 88 CDDs.
