Propane: US propane inventories increased by +2.5m bbl to 37.7m bbl for the week ended May 9, 2014. PADD 3 inventories increased +7%, or +1.4m bbl, to 20.8m bbl. PADD 2 stocks increased by +7%, or +830k bbl, to 12.5m bbl. In PADD 1, stocks increased by +6% or +166k bbl to 3.0m bbl. Implied demand increased +22% to 849 kb/d; imports decreased -24% to 55 kb/d and production fell -1% to 1.46 mb/d last week. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline and heating oil. Non-commercials decreased net length in natural gas, heating oil, Brent, gasoline and WTI during the reference week. Baker Hughes shows 1,851 active rigs as of May 9, 2014, higher by +1 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +1 to 1,528 (ht: -2; vt-dir: +3) while gas-directed rigs stayed the same at 323 (ht: -2; vt-dir: +2). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -4 to 160 in the Bakken (ND) and vertical/directional oil rigs increased by +2 to 3 in Anadarko (KS). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +3 to 14 in Granite Wash (TX).

EIA reported a +74 bcf injection for the week ending May 2 (Bloomberg median +71 bcf, Bloomberg whisper: +70 bcf). The 24 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +62 bcf to +79 bcf with a standard deviation of 4 bcf. Our model showed +75 bcf. Nationwide natural gas-weighted HDDs decreased by -1 to 72, while nationwide electricity-weighted cooling degree days reported by NOAA increased by +7 to reach 14 CDDs. In Focus: Petrochemical update Some of the key issues on the minds of chemical companies – or at least the analysts that cover them – include ethane and propane exports, construction timelines for new cracking facilities in the U.S. and opportunities for chemical demand growth in international markets, particularly China. If there was any bias in their analyses, it would be in categorically bullish stances on supply and mostly bearish outlooks for feedstock prices.

Oil rigs decreased by -7 to 1,527 (ht: +3; vt-dir: -10) while the number of gas-directed rigs stayed the same at 323 (ht: -1; vt-dir: +1). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -3 to 39 in Anadarko (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -3 to 21 in Marcellus ( NEPA ).

The original version stated the EIA reported an 82 bcf withdrawal this week. It was an injection and not withdrawal (underlined in the text). EIA reported an +82 bcf injection for the week ending April 25 (Bloomberg median +76 bcf, Bloomberg whisper: +78 bcf).
