Baker Hughes shows 1,927 active rigs as of October 24, 2014, higher by +9 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +5 to 1,595 (ht: +7; vt-dir: -2) while gas-directed rigs increased by +4 to 332 (ht: -5; vt-dir: +9). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +8 to 205 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and vertical/directional oil rigs increased by +2 to 18 in the Permian (NM). Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -3 to 14 in Eagle Ford (TX).

U.S. crude oil inventories increased by +7111k bbl in the week ended October 17, while Cushing stocks rose by +953k bbl. Distillate inventories grew by +1049k bbl and gasoline inventories declined by -1299k bbl. Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended October 14. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in Brent and gasoline , but decreased in natural gas, heating oil and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas declined by -24.0k to +54.5k in futures and fell by -17.6k to +132.2k in.....

Oil rigs decreased by -19 to 1,590 (ht: -9; vt-dir: -10) while gas-directed rigs increased by +8 to 328 (ht: +9; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -7 to 143 in the Anadarko (OK) and vertical/directional oil rigs decreased by -3 to 16 in the Permian (NM).
