Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended May 7, 2013. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Baker Hughes shows 1,762 active rigs as of May 10, 2013, higher by +5 for the week. Oil rigs increased by +9 to 1,412 (ht: +4; vt-dir: +5) and gas-directed rigs decreased by -4 to 350 (ht: +3; vt-dir: -7). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +4 to 113 in the Anadarko (OK), by +3 to 191 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and decreased by -3 to 103 in Permian (TX). EIA reported a +88 bcf injection for the week ending May 3 (Bloomberg median +86 bcf, Bloomberg Whisper +86). The 28 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +72 bcf to +94 bcf with a standard deviation of 5 bcf. Our model showed +82 bcf. Nationwide HDDs decreased to 50, down by -54 week on week. Baker Hughes shows 1,757 active rigs as of May 3, 2013, higher by +10 for the week. Oil rigs increased by +22 to 1,403 (ht: +11; vt-dir: +11) and gas-directed rigs decreased by -12 to 354 (ht: -3; vt-dir: -9). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +9 to 109 in the Anadarko (OK), by +3 to 47 in the Permian (NM) and decreased by -4 to 56 in Texas (Other).
