Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended April 23, 2013. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Baker Hughes shows 1,747 active rigs as of April 26, 2013, lower by -3 for the week. Oil rigs increased by +10 to 1,381 (ht: -1; vt-dir: +11) and gas-directed rigs decreased by -13 to 366 (ht: -12; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +2 to 189 in the Eagle Ford (TX), by +2 to 100 in the Anadarko (OK) and by +2 to 60 in Texas (Other). Vertical/directional oil rigs increased by +4 to 251 in Permian (TX) and by +5 to 57 in parts of Texas not currently identified with established shale oil.....

EIA reported a +30 bcf injection for the week ending April 19 (Bloomberg median +33 bcf, Bloomberg Whisper +33). The 26 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +19 bcf to +41 bcf with a standard deviation of 4 bcf. Our model showed +36 bcf. Nationwide HDDs increased to 91, up by +5 week on week. STATS shows 1,661 active rigs as of April 19, 2013, lower by -14 for the week. Rigs drilling for oil decreased by -10 to 1,327 (ht: +1; vt-dir: -11) and gas rigs fell by -4 to 334 (ht: -5; vt-dir: +1). STATS showed that horizontal oil rigs jumped by +6 in the Eagle Ford (TX) to 197. STATS shows 1,675 active rigs as of April 12, 2013, lower by -24 for the week. Rigs drilling for oil decreased by -2 to 1,337 (ht: -9; vt-dir: +7) and gas rigs fell by -22 to 338 (ht: -16; vt-dir: -8). STATS showed that horizontal oil rigs jumped by +6 and +5 in the Anadarko (OK) and Eagle Ford (TX) to 99 and 191, respectively, but declined by -3 to 188 in the Bakken (ND).
