Commitments of Traders Report – October 05, 2015
Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended September 29. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in Brent , but decreased in gasoline, natural gas, gasoil, heating oil and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas declined by -26.5k to -47.2k in futures and fell by -36.2.....

Baker Hughes shows 809 active rigs as of October 2, 2015, lower by -29 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -27 to 614 (ht: -23; vt-dir: -4) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -2 to 195 (ht: +3; vt-dir: -5). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -7 in Anadarko (OK), by -3 in Permian (NM) and by -8 in other regions of Texas not associated with a specific shale play. Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +3 in Granite Wash (OK) and by +2 in Eagle Ford (TX), while decreasing by -2 in Marc.....

EIA reported a +98 bcf injection for the week ending September 24 (Bloomberg median +100 bcf, Bloomberg whisper: +99 bcf). The 22 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +78 bcf to +112 bcf with a standard deviation of 6 bcf. Our model showed +99 bcf. Nationwide natural gas-weighted heating degree days reported by NOAA were unchanged at 13 HDDs, while electricity-weighted cooling degree days increased by +2 CDDs to 41 CDDs. Baker Hughes shows 838 active rigs as of September 25, 2015, lower by -4 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -3 to 641 (ht: -8; vt-dir: +5) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -1 to 197 (ht: -3; vt-dir: +2). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -3 in Eagle Ford (TX) and by -2 in Anadarko (OK). Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -2 to 14 rigs in Haynesville (LA).

The 21 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +85 bcf to +108 bcf with a standard deviation of 5 bcf. Our model showed +100 bcf. Nationwide natural gas-weighted heating degree days reported by NOAA increased by +10 HDD to 13 HDDs, while electricity-weighted cooling degree days decreased by -38 CDDs to 39 CDDs.
