Commitments of Traders Report – April 06, 2015
Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended March 31. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in heating oil, Brent, gasoline and WTI , but decreased in natural gas during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas fell by -11.6k to -17.1k in futures and declined by -26.9k to +15.0k in futur.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,024 active rigs as of April 2, 2015, lower by -22 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -11 to 802 (ht: -5; vt-dir: -6) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -11 to 222 (ht: -8; vt-dir: -3). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -5 to 90 in Bakken (ND) and vertical/directional oil rigs decreased by -2 to 68 in the Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -1 to 30 in Marcellus ( SWPA ).

EIA reported a -18 bcf withdrawal for the week ending March 26 (Bloomberg median -10 bcf, Bloomberg whisper: -12 bcf). The 22 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from -20 bcf to -4 bcf with a standard deviation of 4 bcf. Our model showed -19 bcf. Nationwide natural gas-weighted heating degree days reported by NOAA increased by +22 to 131 HDDs, while electricity-weighted cooling degree days decreased by -1 CDDs to 6 CDDs. Oil rigs decreased by -12 to 813 (ht: -13; vt-dir: +1) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -9 to 233 (ht: -4; vt-dir: -5). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -4 to 152 while vertical/directional oil rigs increased by +4 to 70 in the Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +1 to 31 in Marcellus ( SWPA ).
